2018 Rethinking Smart Futures

Rethinking Smart Futures Report Launch

Focused on people, enabled by transport, powered by technology

Overview

We brought together over 60 industry leaders, policy makers and academics to debate how you can create smart cities of tomorrow. As the influence of digital technologies on our lives continues to grow, our cities are at a crossroads. The aspiration of tailored and responsive services for people is now within our grasp, however it still remains unclear how to make it a reality for everyone.

The Interchange programme at London Transport Museum, in collaboration with PwC, Gowling WLG and Thales UK, led a conversation around some of these issues and focused attention on the speed and complexity of the changes occurring in the sector.

Round table events

In compiling the Rethinking Smart Futures Report, the authors drew on a series of five roundtable events held in London between June and December 2018. As part of Interchange, London Transport Museum’s ongoing series of well-informed discussions and debates, where leading thinkers and decision-makers consider the challenges and opportunities facing cities, transport and infrastructure, today and tomorrow. Each of these four sessions focused on a specific area of impact from technological change: transport, cities, work, and cyber security.
