Heritage days out

Days out banner

As convenient and efficient modes of transport were developed in London, it changed the way people were able to spend their leisure time, paving the way for an institution we hold dear to this day: the great British day trip.

We are happy to announce our new line-up of exclusive day trips around the capital, giving you the opportunity to hop aboard a vintage vehicle, see the sights and explore some of London's most iconic attractions.

Booking is now open for our autumn excursion to Greenwich.

Autumn Excursion to Greenwich

Date: Thursday 17 October 2019
Locations: Covent Garden/Greenwich Park
Time: 09:00 to 18:00
Tickets: Booking now closed
Includes morning refreshments, curator talk, entry and activities in Greenwich and a pub lunch.

Join us on a daytrip through time and space as we visit the Royal Observatory and the Queen’s House in Greenwich, and enjoy the autumnal splendours and maritime breeze of Greenwich Park.

Start your day at London Transport Museum, learning about London Transport’s world famous posters and their promotion of outings in a curator talk with your morning coffee. Then board a beautifully restored RTW bus, leisurely winding its way along the Thames, crossing iconic Tower Bridge, until you reach the stunning display of colours that is Greenwich Park in the autumn.

Upon arrival, join one of three exclusive activities: Let the Curator of Time guide you through the Royal Observatory and Meridian Garden, join a guided tour of the Queen’s House exploring this beautiful building and its art collection, or take part in an exclusive Tudor and Stuarts clothing demonstration in the Queen’s House private parlour. Please refer to the event information sheet below for more information on the choices. The choice of activity must be made at the point of booking.

Then sit down for a hearty meal in the Old Brewery on the grounds of the Royal Naval College right by the riverside, and enjoy some free time exploring the parks, National Maritime Museum, the Queen’s House, Royal Naval College, or taking in the city views from the riverbank.

The day concludes with a self-guided gallery visit back at London Transport Museum where you can explore London’s transport heritage of the last 200 years.

See a full timetable and more information about the day in the Event Information Sheet below. Please read this carefully before booking your tickets and choosing your activity.
